Who are we?

We have partnered with a group of providers of independent mental health hospitals who have been operating these services for over a decade. The group includes leading hospitals such as Southern Hill Hospital and Apple Hill Hospital.

In line with guidance provided by NHS England for Acute Inpatient Mental Health Care in adults and older adults, our group of hospitals has developed an acute mental health care pathway across six strategically located hospitals in England. With access to over 200 beds, we aim to help facilitate timely access to high-quality therapeutic inpatient care, prioritising proximity to home and offering the least restrictive settings possible.

Our Treatment Approach

We are dedicated to promoting positive patient experiences and sustainable recovery, guided by our Acute Pathway philosophy.

Our mission is to provide welcoming, fulfilling, and nurturing environments, offering outstanding facilities and services to facilitate a healing journey while reducing patient length of stay.

Our 24/7 acute mental health hospitals are dedicated to delivering comprehensive assessment and treatment services. Commissioners and Bed Managers can seek our assistance to help their patients during moments of crisis where their behaviours and actions pose a risk to themselves and others. Upon admission, we work collaboratively with each person to establish a personalised acute pathway focusing on stabilisation and effective discharge. Our services include psychological treatment and therapy, facilitating a safe reintegration into the community, ultimately leading to discharge into community services.

Our philosophy of care

At Acute Mental Health group, we hold a strong belief in delivering the highest quality care with a patient-centred approach. Our philosophy of care encompasses the following principles:

  • Clinical Excellence – We provide thorough and effective assessments that promote the stabilisation of mental health and well-being in the shortest time possible.
  • Collaborative Teamwork – We value effective collaboration with individuals, their families, caregivers, stakeholders, and our dedicated staff. We ensure that each person’s unique needs are at the heart of care and treatment planning.
  • Empowering Patients – We support individuals in taking an active role in planning their care and treatment, promoting their autonomy and well-being.
  • Evidence-Based Treatment – Our staff are specialists in mental health assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. We emphasise evidence-based treatments to achieve sustainable recovery and personal best for our patients.
  • Relapse Prevention – We are committed to helping individuals prepare for their return to the community by investing in relapse prevention programs, which allow them greater control over their symptoms and treatment.
  • Individualised Care – We believe in offering care that lasts only as long as the person needs it, emphasising recovery and social inclusion.
  • Holistic Treatment – Our treatment models embrace the principles of person-centred recovery, emphasising social inclusion, respect, dignity, and robust positive risk management.
  • Learning and Growth – We believe in equality of opportunity, encouraging both patients and staff to learn new skills, grow, and make successful contributions.

We aim to assist any person within our acute services to understand and treat their condition, using National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) approved interventions that help recognise and prevent relapse triggers. Our multidisciplinary teams encourage people to engage in all aspects of their recovery fully.
